Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the Word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he sent a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, “Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and He has appointed me to build Him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you of all His people, may his God be with him! Let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and rebuild the house of the Lord, the God of Israel; He is the God who is in Jerusalem.” Ezra 1:1-3

There are many who believe that there are eight great spiritual revivals that occurred in the Old Testament. The eight great spiritual revivals are believed to have occurred under Moses, Samuel, Elijah, Asa, Hezekiah, Josiah, Ezra, and Nehemiah.

For the past few years we have spoken of from time to time about a great revival that many are anticipating to come about very soon. Some have even been calling the upcoming revival, “The Third Great Awakening.” As we draw nearer to this revival, the Lord placed on my heart to do a series on, Revival History: From Israel to America. As noted in the title, this is the introduction.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 KJV

‍ ‍The Memorial Day weekend is coming upon us in a few weeks. It is a day to honor Veteran's that made the ultimate sacrifice, the giving up of their own lives in order to save the lives of others and for America. Although it is a day of remembering those who sacrificed their lives in battle to preserve freedom for others, personally I also think it is fitting to honor those who survived, but put themselves in harms way. Not to diminish the sacrifice of those who laid down their lives in battle. However, there are those who put their lives on the line that were able to survive.
